Floral Art in Black

Ben Huybrechts is an Antwerp based photographer who specializes in floral art photography.  The work you see here is made by his wife Ilse Beunen, a contemporary floral artist. Her arrangements are strongly influenced by Sogetsu ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging flowers, stems, and leaves in vases and other containers. 

Floral arrangements have by definition a limited life span, making it difficult to share them with a large audience.  Combining photography and floral art make it possible to share the designs with a larger audience.
The pictures you see here are the preparation of a floral art book and exhibition, which will be published towards the end of 2012.
